Antaragni ‘09 begins

KANPUR (22 Oct): The four day annual cultural fest of IIT Kanpur ‘Antaragni-09’ begin with much fanfare on Thursday. The biggest college cultural festival of North India is here with the theme i am the change. The SAC (Students Activity Centre) is filled with students from 152 colleges, registering for competitions & workshops, making new friends and enjoying themselves with full abandon. The SAC is lit up to welcome the participants and the hospitality cell of the organizing team is working full time to help them settle in.
The programs kickstarted with Prima Nocte, the opening night show where Sitar Funk Niladri Kumar and the band Advaita of the UK SoundPad fame performed. As far as competitions are concerned, the preliminary rounds of Ritambhara (fashion), Synchronicity (rock bands) and stand-up comedy also took place. The well known cartoonist K V Gautam conducted a workshop on caricatures. The fun stuff at the mall went on, with antakshari, casino and gone in 50 seconds (50s challenges) planned for this evening.
The morning of day 2 will begin with preliminary rounds of Darpan (stage play) and Nukkad (street play). In the Dance competitions, there will be Roots (folk dance), Jitterbug prelims (western group dance) and Natraj (Indian classical Dance). Also, the word games prelims (under English literary events) will be held..
